Developer Journal: Working Construction and Purging Papers

Dear Eric,

It has been awhile since my last confession … er, blog post.

This is just a quick update on what has been going on in my life:

  • After reviewing version 2 of my Ongoing Website Maintenance proposal for Southeast AlabamaWorks (whom I did a complete UX and front-end overhaul for), Ryan Richards, Director, advised that — while they loved the work I did on the site re-design — the board wanted to investigate and compare other providers of similar services. This meant I would need to find another source of income in the meantime.
  • I started signing up for a work from home service called Appen, but I didn’t finish the signup.
  • Hollow Oak Restorations logo

I got applied for and got hired for a residential remodeling and restoration company called Hollow Oak Restorations out of Webb/Ashford, Alabama. I’ve been working there almost 3 weeks (today is my 3 week anniversary). My goal is to make it at least a year. It is hard work, but I am really enjoying it so far.

  • I decided 3 days ago after a long talk with Kat and a deep realization that hit me oh so cold, that I need to chuck, burn, or otherwise get rid of most of the papers I’ve been holding onto. That means the letters from my Grandpa need to packaged and sent to Dad.

My body is starting to shape up after 3 weeks of construction work.

  • Though Gatorade is chemicals I have found it essential to making through the day, just as I did when I was in the dessert filming “Cold Sun“. Also, as in Cold Sun production, I am wearing sun-screen every day, which is Hepkat Organics Body Butter which I add peppermint oil to.

That’s all for now. Happy 4th of July everyone!
