365-Day Devotional Book Production
Morning with Nancy is a 365-day devotional created from a collection of Facebook posts written by the author over time. Rather than writing new material for the book, the project involved transforming these existing posts into a structured daily devotional while preserving the author's voice and wording exactly as written.
My role was to organize the posts into a year-long devotional format, design the book layout, typeset the content, and prepare the finished files for self-publishing through Amazon KDP.
I reviewed the full set of Facebook posts and organized them into a 365-day devotional structure. Some posts aligned naturally with specific calendar dates — for example Christmas, Easter, and Juneteenth reflections were placed on their respective holidays.
Other entries were assigned to dates based on contextual themes, the author's voice and message, and spiritual discernment in considering how the devotional should unfold throughout the year.
Once the daily structure was established, I assembled the devotional into a full manuscript using Adobe InDesign. Each entry was formatted as a daily reading, creating a consistent layout across the entire year-long devotional.
Using paragraph styles, character styles, and master pages, I created a professional layout that maintained readability and typographic consistency across hundreds of pages.
The completed book was exported as print-ready PDFs formatted to Amazon KDP specifications.
This project demonstrates how existing content can be transformed into a structured publication through careful organization, design, and production planning. By turning a collection of social media posts into a devotional calendar, the project converted informal writing into a complete publishable book while preserving the author’s original voice.
