The Geneva Tornado & 5 Miracles Part 1 – When the Well Broke Down

📅 Date Written: 2026-02-08

Dear Reader,

I’m writing today about how GOOD GOD IS! He is ABSOLUTELY GOOD and there is no doubt in my mind of that! I’m prepared to tell everyone about the 5 miracles He did for us the week of the what will surely be known to historians as the freak `Winter Tornado of 2026` in Geneva, Alabama.

I watched out the back door as items on the front porch began to swirl. Earlier that morning (this was Sunday, so right before church) our hot water went out. Thankfully, Kat had already taken her shower and there was just enough water — about 3 inches in the tub — for me to wash up with.

The first sign of anything wrong was around 6:30 AM when Kat (my wife) reported she was having sporatic hot and cold shower water alternating. This was indicative of low pressure, something we’d learned since moving to a property with well water.

I investigated and found there was no other water source on that could be causing the pressure drop. Then as I prepared to take my bath, first only cold water was coming out then, just spurts of water then the entire water flow stopped in the bathtub. After some quick thinking and process of elimination, we were able to determine that the issue was the well.

I tried replacing one of the round green bubble fuses, although I could find no evidence (burn marks, rattling) of either of the fuses being broken, to no avail. Our pump house needs updating for sure — the first thing I’d like to do is replace the fuse box with a breaker box.

Anyway, we determined the well pump was the issue, but weren’t able to do anything because it was time for church. After church we came home and it began to pour down rain and knowing we might not have water for days, we set up buckets in strategic places on the back porch to catch as much rain as we could. But soon the rain stopped and then a swirling wind started — pretty mild at first — but it was enough to knock down the large southern pine (we saw later that it seems to have pink and dark purplish heartwood) tree that stood next to the pump house.

Within a few minutes a strong tornado came through and blew about 12 trees down all around our property, but praise God, nobody on or around us was injured! We prayed protection over the whole neighborhood beforehand and plead the blood of Jesus according to scripture and claimed our tithers rights. Power went out next and we didn’t have it restored until about 1:30 AM in the morning. But God kept us! Our food didn’t perish and we were able to have water from the rainwater to flush the toilet and our Jackery 300 helped to keep our phones charged. It got almost below freezing but we had plenty of blankets and Kat and I and the fur babies all gathered in one room and we didn’t have any TV so we just talked to each other until we fell asleep.

The devil kept trying to break us, but every time God stepped in and rebuked the devour for our sake because we know in whom we have believed and from whence comes our help!

The next day our good friend Angel who run’s Hall’s Lawn Service came out to help with the well situation. We tried to pay him but he said he just wanted to help, so we had to insist he take something as a show of our appreciation. Over the course of 2 days he was able to determine that what what we expected would cost $400-600 to fix (replacing the well pump) ended up costing $16 in a rare capacitor that was so hard to find he had to check several places before finally locating the part at a pool and spa store of all places in Dothan!

When the well pump went out God kept us, he rebuked the devour for OUR sake according to Malachi 3:10, and he event sent an angel to take care of us and minister to us in our time of trouble. You can’t tell me God ain’t absolutely good and the devil ain’t real — I’ve seen both in action in the same week!
