Celebrating God’s Work in Alabama: Meeting Prophets, Famous Friends, and Renewing Faith (4/11/2026 Journal)

Famous Friends, Prophetic Voices & Rock in Geneva

Today I’m heading to Headland for Prophet Timothy Dixon’s new church opening (with Julie Green flying in!), catching up with friends like filmmaker Isaac Medeiros and actor Jesus Payan, and maybe even checking out a local metal band at Geneva River Fest. Faith, community, and a few divine coincidences — it’s been that kind of week.

Dear Reader,

I’m so excited! Just a few hours from now I’m going to be in Headland, Alabama helping Prophet Timothy Dixon celebrate the Grand Opening of Zions Assembly of the Lord, his new church right outside of Dothan, Alabama. Prophet Julie Green from Iowa is also supposed to be flying in as a guest. I’m really looking forward to meeting her.

My friend Isaac Medeiros, a young filmmaker who I first met in 2015 while he was preparing to shoot his first Hollywood backed movie “Cold Sun“, has recently posted a testimony of his seeking God and after trying different religions, philosophies, and worldviews, finally, recently settled with the Catholic Church. Praise God! While I don’t consider myself a Catholic, it is great to hear that he has sought to know who God is and what his purpose is and that he has read the Bible. Many who claim to be one thing or another are often mis-informed — or better, “underinformed” (not sure if I just coined a word or not), because they haven’t delved into a deep dive of reading the main texts and then not just assuming you know what passage means, but looking up primary sources (original Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic, Ethiopian Geez, etc.) find the original meaning and intent of the author. But, Isaac is one of the few who had done that hard work and so his belief and faith in Christ Jesus is all the more stronger and meaningful.

Earlier this week my wife and her friend Alyse, both budding homesteaders, tilled a small patch of soil near the rear of our house Kat will use to grow corn, pumpkins, and sunflowers. It was good to see her making friends and sharing wisdom and knowledge about small organic farming, etc. Alyse really knows how to handle that electric tiller!

Upcoming events

Geneva River Fest — I normally could care less – its great and I support it, but there’s usually nothing extra special that would bring me out, but this year there is a young teens/college age band that will be playing post-grunge rock and metal so I’m really curious to see that and eager to support — in a day when they are saying rock is dead — the next generation of youth carrying on the torch and legacy of rock-n-roll and heavy metal.

Finally, Kat and I are planning to renew our vows at St. Elizabeth with Pastor Harvey officiating in June. This will be our 10 year anniversary. When we met were both agnostic pagans, but much like my friend Isaac I wrestled with God to find out who He really was. In fact, I attempted to prove the Bible was flawed and contradictory and decided I’d start attending church partially to meet connections to help get a job, but also to get a free seminary education. Having gained a solid understanding of everything these southern Baptists believed, I would then be able to reason logically and using textual criticism and other rational processes clearly point out where their book was flawed and therefore could not be the authoritative word of God. But, something happened along the way — I learned the truth — that there is one true God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, his son was Jesus Christ who died for our sins and rose on the 3rd day, after “making a show” of death, hell, and the grave, took the keys away from the devil, took his robe back, but on his heavenly garments again, hung out with his disciples for 40 days before ascending into heaven, and gave us power and authority through the gift of the Holy Ghost, to trample on serpents and scorpions and all kinds of demonic power, and to heal the sick, and to raise the dead, and to cast out demons. And He left us His Word, that NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST BELIVERS WOULD PROSPER and that his WILL is that we should prosper and be in health and live abundantly, even as our soul prospers. Oh, and the thing that really convinced me and caused me to be fully persuaded was when I saw Holy Spirit heal a man in his house without fanfare through me as the vessel. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back that made me all-in for Jesus and right there I acknowledged him as God and my Lord.

Also … my I got a photo with my friend David Hayes (Geneva Mayor) at the Geneva Crosswalk on Good Friday a week ago. I’m planning to post that, because I don’t get out of the house very regularly, but when I do, I tend to make friends and I end up interviewing people. I think it might be a fun project to locate all the digital photos I’ve taken with celebrities, government officials, and otherwise famous people and note how we met and what the current status is.

Almost forgot — I reconnected with my friend Jesus Jr. (AKA Jesus Payan) on LinkedIn. I’ve seen him twice now in roles on “In Plain Sight”. I think he lives in Albuquerque, but he’s probably most famously known for playing the thug “Gonzo” in “Breaking Bad”.

I’ve lived a blessed life so far. In this new chapter, I believe its only going to get better and better!
